Volkswagen Tayron: Setting New Standards for SUVs in 2025

Get ready, SUV enthusiasts! Volkswagen is introducing a new player to the Indian market—the highly anticipated Tayron SUV. Unveiled at the 2024 Beijing Motor Show, the Tayron combines sophisticated design, advanced technology, and spacious interiors. Slated for a 2025 launch, this SUV promises to elevate the driving experience for Indian consumers. Let’s dive into what makes the Volkswagen Tayron a game-changer in the SUV segment.

Volkswagen’s Tayron SUV is set to debut in India in 2025, arriving via the Completely Knocked Down (CKD) route. Larger than the Tiguan, it was first showcased at the 2024 Beijing Motor Show. The Tayron will soon be released in China and other markets, including India. Known as the Tiguan L Pro in China, it will be branded as the Tayron elsewhere.

Design and Exterior

The Tayron shares design elements with the latest international-spec Tiguan. It features a sporty front with a criss-cross black grille on the R grade and a wide air inlet. The exterior also includes black finished alloy wheels, a muscular bonnet, prominent side character lines, blackened pillars, and a sleek rear profile.

Volkswagen introduced the third-generation Tiguan globally last year. The Tayron, a larger three-row variant, measures 4,735 mm in length, 1,859 mm in width, and 1,682 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,791 mm. This makes it significantly bigger than the Tiguan, offering ample space for passengers and cargo.

Interior and Features

Inside, the Tayron offers a luxurious and high-tech cabin. The dashboard features three screens: a central touchscreen, a digital instrument cluster behind the steering wheel, and a landscape screen for the front passenger. The flat-bottom steering wheel, equipped with mounted controls and minimal physical buttons, enhances the upscale feel. The black interior theme of the top-end R variant complements the exterior, while the MIB4 connectivity system provides the latest tech features.

The Tayron’s comprehensive equipment list includes:

  • Wireless charger
  • 360-degree camera system
  • Heated and ventilated front seats
  • Head-up display (HUD)
  • Dual-zone automatic climate control
  • Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS)
  • Premium surface trims and materials

Performance and Powertrain

In the Chinese market, the VW Tayron is powered by a 2.0L four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, delivering either 184 hp or 217 hp. This engine pairs with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. All-wheel drive is available in higher trims. For global markets, there might be a 2.0L turbo diesel engine and a 1.5L plug-in hybrid (PHEV) with an electric-only range of up to 100 km.

Tayron Takes Over: Volkswagen’s Next Big Thing in India

The Volkswagen Tayron is set to redefine the SUV experience in India with its blend of space, luxury, and advanced technology. Its larger size and three-row seating make it a versatile choice for families. The powerful engines and cutting-edge features cater to those who crave performance and innovation. As the 2025 launch approaches, anticipation builds for one of the most exciting SUV offerings in the Indian market. Stay tuned for more updates on the Volkswagen Tayron and prepare for a new level of driving excellence.
